PB Alpha Edu is a non-participating insurance plan with investment-linked features, where 40% of the premium paid for the basic plan (also known as PB Enhancer Premium) will be used to purchase units in selected investment funds to provide you with potential investment gains.

This plan also covers death and total and permanent disability (TPD) of your child with benefits that provide you with the funds needed to pay for your child’s tertiary education. In addition, you can also enhance your child’s protection by adding on optional riders.

This plan comes with a premium payment term until your child is 18 years old but covers your child until age 21 years old.

    • Education Fund
      To help ease your burden, the Education Fund will be payable to you on an annual basis when your child pursues tertiary education. The amount payable is based on the basic sum assured and entry age of your child:

  • CELEBRATE YOUR CHILD’S ACHIEVEMENT AT MATURITY
    • Maturity Benefit
      • As a portion of your premium will be invested in the investment fund(s) of your choice, upon policy maturity when your child reaches age 21, you will receive the account value from these fund(s) to celebrate your child’s achievement. You will also receive any accumulated Education Fund and balance in Education Wallet.
    • Maturity Boost
      • Not only that, the more you save the more you get. You can enjoy higher payout upon maturity if you purchase this plan when your child is between 0 to 8 years old with a basic sum assured of RM100,000 and above.
      • You will receive an additional percentage of your basic sum assured together with your Maturity Benefit depending on your child’s entry age and the basic sum assured that you choose as shown in the table below:

        • Become an AIA Vitality member and lead a healthy lifestyle to enjoy Vitality Education Wallet Reward. Make healthy choices to receive a higher amount which will be credited into your Education Wallet at every PB Education Protector Rider anniversary based on the plan that you choose for PB Education Protector Rider.

  • You can withdraw the money in the wallet once a year starting from the 2nd policy year for your child’s education needs. For example, buying books, computer and online programme, which are important tools to help your child succeed academically. You can also choose to keep the money in the Education Wallet and utilise it later.

Vitality Education Wallet Reward is only applicable if the policy owner is an AIA Vitality member and PB Education Protector rider is attached to the policy.   • DEATH AND TPD BENEFIT
    • Upon death or TPD of the child, the following will be payable:
      • 200% of basic sum assured
      • Account value (if any)
      • Accumulated Education Fund (if any)
      • Balance in Education Wallet (if any)
  • ENJOY POTENTIAL INVESTMENT GAINS WITH TOP-UP FACILITIES
    • You can choose to pay regular top-up together with your basic premium to increase your account value. You also have the choice to perform ad hoc top-up when investment opportunity arises.
Optional Riders

Protect your child should anything unfortunate happens to you by attaching these optional riders to your PB Alpha Edu plan:

  • PB Education Protector Rider
    • Your child will receive a yearly income according to the different stages of education they are in if an unfortunate event, either death, accidental death or TPD happens to you. The yearly income amount will be based on the table below:

  • The yearly income amount will be doubled for accidental death.
  • This yearly income will help them focus on their studies and continue their education without worrying about any financial setbacks in your absence.

    • PB Payor 2 Rider

      • Ensure future basic premiums1 are waived if the policy owner suffers from TPD before age 70 or passes away.

    • PB Payor CI 2 Rider2

      • Ensure future basic premiums1 are waived if the policy owner is diagnosed with any one of the 44 covered critical illnesses.

    • Total and Permanent Disability Benefit (Purchasable)3

      • Provide insurance coverage if the insured suffers TPD.

1  The policy owner can choose to include or exclude the Regular Top-up premium into / from the sum assured of the riders.

Eligibility
  • This plan is available to individuals aged between 14 days and 10 years old (nearest birthday).
  • However, the minimum age of the policy owner is 16 years old to 60 years old (nearest birthday).
What Are The Major Exclusions For The Product?
  • Any death arising from the occurrence of the following is not covered:
    • Death due to suicide within one (1) year from the Issue Date or Commencement Date, whichever is later.
  • Any TPD arising from the occurrence of the following is not covered:
    • Willful exposure to danger;
    • Attempted self-destruction or self-inflicted injuries while sane or insane;
    • Service in any armed forces in time of declared or undeclared war or while under orders for warlike operations or restoration of public
      order;
    • Entering, exiting, operating, or servicing, or being transported by any aerial device or conveyance except as a fare-paying passenger or crew member on a commercial passenger airline on a regular scheduled passenger trip over its established passenger route;
    • Any congenital defect which has manifested or was diagnosed before age 17; or
    • Pre-existing disability resulting from a physical or mental condition.
  • Any accidental death arising from the occurrence of the following is not covered:
    • Assault or murder;
    • Riot and civil commotion, industrial action or terrorist activity;
    • Willful exposure to danger;
    • Attempted self-destruction or self-inflicted injuries while sane or insane;
    • War, declared or undeclared, or revolution;
    • Service in the armed forces in time of declared or undeclared war or while under orders for warlike operations or restoration of public
      order;
    • Making an arrest as an officer of the law;
    • Violation or attempted violation of the law or resistance to arrest;
    • Participation in any fight or affray;
    • Racing on horse or wheels;
    • Accident occurring while or because the Insured is under the influence of non-prescribed drug or illegal drug;
    • Hernia, ptomaines or bacterial infection (except pyogenic infection which shall occur with and through an accidental cut or wound);
    • The intentional or negligent inhalation or consumption of poison, gases or noxious fumes; or
    • Entering, exiting, operating or servicing, or being transported by any aerial device or conveyance except when the Insured is a fare-
      paying passenger or crew member on a commercial passenger airline on a regular scheduled passenger trip over its established
      passenger route.
  • Any critical illness arising from the occurrence of the following is not covered:
    • Pre-existing Conditions prior to the Issue Date or Commencement Date, whichever is later;
    • Cancer, Heart Attack, Coronary Artery By-Pass Surgery, Serious Coronary Artery Disease and Angioplasty and Other Invasive
      Treatments for Coronary Artery Disease, for which the signs or symptoms first occurred within 60 days following the Issue Date or
      Commencement Date, whichever is later;
    • All other critical illnesses for which the signs or symptoms first occurred within 30 days following the Issue Date or Commencement Date, whichever is later;
    • Critical illness was diagnosed directly or indirectly due to a congenital defect or disease which has manifested or was diagnosed before age 17;
    • The diagnosis of Fulminant Viral Hepatitis, Cancer, Encephalitis, Bacterial Meningitis, Alzheimer’s Disease / Severe Dementia or Terminal Illness was directly or indirectly due to an Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or infection by any Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV); or
    • Any critical illness which is caused by a self-inflicted injury.
